Four issues in to Marvel’s big summer event, one thing has become very clear: Avengers vs. X-Men the series is going to speed through the basic plot, leaving all the actual fighting and meaningful character interaction to the tie-ins. While normally I might have a problem with this, I’m happy to say that Avengers vs. X-Men remains a good read in and of itself.

Spider-Man vs. Juggernaut Colossus from Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca.

Captain America vs Gambit from Steve McNiven and John Dell.

Again, the first page is telling us that this isn’t about plots or continuity or characters, its about fighting.  Even the UFC has characters!  There are feuds!

Cap and Gambit are up first.  The A on his mask stands for mon Ami.

In a move to show how forward-thinking, in-touch and open the Academy is, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has been banned from attending the Oscar ceremony on Sunday. No, wait. That actually shows that they’re a of crotchety, grumpy and PC bunch.

It was through skateboarding that I first got into still photography, so I was stoked when I got a call from Phil asking if I wanted to go shoot with him at CBMK last week. Z Roy came along as well and we pretty much had the whole park to ourselves for the night. I haven’t been to this park in about 4 years, but not much has changed, and it’s still one of my favourite winter spots in the GTA.
